Leweston is a Catholic independent boarding and day school which welcomes pupils of all denominations. The school is co-educational in the Nursery and Junior Department and all-girls in the Senior School and Sixth Form. Set in 46 acres of beautiful parkland 3 miles south of Sherborne, Dorset, Leweston prides itself on providing a contemporary, academic education.
Expectations at Leweston are high; pupils are challenged in their studies to achieve the best possible academic success. However, emphasis is also placed on the achievements that lie outside the academic plain. Leweston pupils gain confidence by trying new experiences beyond the classroom: from exploring the natural world in the Enchanted Wood attached to the Junior Department; to negotiating the high levels of skill and professionalism expected from the Leiths cookery course in the Sixth Form; handling the rigours of the Duke of Edinburgh Award; or competing for Team GB at an international Pentathlon event. Throughout, Leweston students are given outstanding pastoral care, where a dedicated team of staff aims to know and support every child.
The Senior School is among the top academic girls’ schools in the South West, with consistently high results at GCSE and A Level. Leweston is consistently ranked in the top 5% to 10% of schools (both independent and maintained) nationally for value added at GCSE with further value added at A Level.
The school has a distinguished reputation for music, drama and sport across the board and is also a GB Pentathlon Academy.
